神奈川県の高校の英語の授業に Alpha の記事を活用しているお話。多感な年頃にグローバルなニュースを学べるのはいい刺激になるだろうね。

この鎌倉女学院高校の生徒さんたちはフェミニズムやジェンダー問題への関心が大きいようだ。この教材を導入した先生が素晴らしいと思います。
.
ちなみに、今読んでいる本によると、女子校に通う女子は男子と同じくらいリスク志向だそうだ。一方で共学校の女子はリスクを避ける傾向がある、それも異性の見ている前だけでは。
.
つまるところ、男性の目が女性の行動を多少なりとも制限している（社会）ということだ。
.
Students' Opinion の感想も素晴らしかった。ただ、すべての意見がまず結論を述べるのは、これが「定石」だと教えられているからなのかなと。

あと The Concept of Time が良かった。

The Western Way of Thinking はとても好きな記事だった。ジェームスさんの連載はこれが最終回なので残念だなー

Western culture tends to worry about "wasting time" and "losing time," and instead prefers that people "save time," "buy time" and "be on time."
Japanese culture, by comparison, tends to place value on time spent in rituals, family events and personal relationship.

ウクライナの Kyiv は自分の電子辞書（ジーニアス）では kiev になっていたので調べてみると、ロシア語の発音に基づくのが Kiev らしい。
